Design Process
Understanding how
my clients want
to engage with
their landscapes
and learning their
design aesthetic is
paramount to serving
each client well.
The Design Process is tailored to each client's needs and varies from onsite consultation (complete with an included sketch) to complete construction drawings. The following outlines the steps for the complete construction process:
Pre-Design Consultation - Meet client on site to understand the scope of project. Take photographs and notes. Prepare a proposal.
Site Analysis and Base Plan - Conduct site reconnaissance including measurements, photographs, and field notes. Prepare a landscape base plan with plan(s) provided by clients, architect, or surveyor.
Conceptual Designs - Design property at the conceptual level. Check city, county, or state codes that may apply. Prepare presentation drawings. Present designs to clients.
Design Development - Consolidate the favorite design ideas and components from the conceptual designs into one design, based on the client’s feedback during and after our conceptual design meeting.
Construction Documents & Bidding - Add the detailed information required for bidding and construction to the design development drawing. With clients, select building materials, plant material, pottery, light fixtures, and site accessories to complete the desired look and feel of their spaces. Construction drawing bid set may include:
Demolition Plan
Site Construction Plan
Grading and Drainage Plan
Irrigation Plan
Planting Plan
Lighting Plan
